PHOENIX Large Belgian Linen Canvas for Oil Painting

This is a steal for linen canvas. The only issue you will notice is there is lots of brush hairs and dust in the gesso layers. I sanded it down smooth and added one more layer of gesso to mine. The result was a perfect linen surface as good as other brands I have paid 5xs more for. I attached a work in progress photo using acrylics on this canvas. I use a spray bottle and spray the back as I work and my acrylics behave so well on this linen. It’s my new favorite surface.

The canvas was nicely packaged. The size and weight of each canvas is just fine. However there was a problem with the first canvas in the package. It was damaged right out of the package; it was bent with a few scratches on it. The package came with 6 canvases but only every other canvas is individually wrapped, which I found strange. So the first one was wrapped in plastic, the second one is not wrapped, the third one is wrapped, and so on. I don’t know why they did it this way instead of wrapping each one. Maybe to save on plastic. Normally, I’d get behind this completely and even say eliminate the plastic wrap entirely. That is, if not for the damage that may or may not have been the result of the way it was packaged. Of course, it’s entirely possible that the package was just damaged during shipping. It’s basically impossible for me to know at this point and close inspection of the rest of them leads me to believe that they are in fine shape.This item was used by my 13 year old son (a very talented artist) and the painting seen here was created by him. So far he has only used one canvas and he was able to cover it with paint so the damage isn’t noticeable. He says that painting on the canvas was very pleasant but at some points the strange texture of the canvas made it a bit uncomfortable and he is not completely satisfied with the results.
